Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about thinking bigger. So let me explain what I mean by that. I'll share a quick story. At the beginning of the pandemic, I needed to reorganize a lot of my different in-person retreat offerings.
I had this really big retreat lined up with over a hundred people, and there was about a year's worth of prep that went into it. As soon as the lockdown happened my mind immediately went to, what are we going to do? How am I going to be able to recover the losses of this? How can I reschedule this retreat? Uh, how can I make sure that there's not a huge financial loss and people aren't upset? Everything was this very small protective way of thinking, uh, making sure that there wasn't too much of a failure or let down. But I started noticing the questions going on in my mind and started asking some different questions, some bigger questions. Instead of how can I make sure that we get through this?, I started asking, what if this were an opportunity for this experience to be even better? What if this were an opportunity for more people to be involved in this retreat? What if this were an opportunity for me to really enjoy putting together a virtual event? And once I started asking those questions, I started getting some interesting answers, some bigger answers. And it was so fascinating to see how the questions that were running through my mind were impacting the answers that I was getting and the creativity that I was bringing to the table.
Now, I don't know what you're going through right now, but I have seen for many people when there are circumstances that are difficult, the tendency is to think, how can I get through this? And my invitation to you is to ask some bigger questions so that you can start thinking bigger. Instead of this just being something that you have to get through, can it be something that you can thrive through that can help you grow, expand, and deepen, whatever it that's is important to you. So when you think small, you get small responses. When you think big, you get big responses. Thank you for your practice.
