Hi, welcome back to
your Daily Mindfulness.
In today's session, we're going
to talk about whether you should
work harder or rest harder.
It's interesting.
At the beginning of the pandemic,
I noticed two different narratives
going on on my social media.
There was the narrative of my
entrepreneurship friends who were saying
this is an opportunity to work harder, to
take advantage of the situation, to catch
up on things, to put in place projects
that you've been waiting to put in place.
And then there was the narrative of
many of them, mindfulness and meditation
friends who were saying things like
this is an opportunity to rest, this
is an opportunity for self care, this
is an opportunity to reconnect to
yourself and take care of yourself.
And if I'm being honest, I resonated
with each narrative in different ways.
The part of me that really likes to
grow and build things and create was
activated by my entrepreneurship friends.
The part of me that felt like, yeah,
I could benefit from some rest.
I would love to practice more meditation.
I'd love to reconnect to myself
and better attune to myself was
activated by my mindfulness friends.
And I saw this divide also as if you
could only be in one camp or the other.
And I'm not saying that you have to
be in both camps at the same time,
but if you find yourself having
different parts of you that are
activated by the work harder camp and
the rest harder camp, that's okay.
And if you're at a point in
your life where you want to
work harder, that's okay.
If you're at a point in your life where
you want to rest harder, that's okay.
I think these narratives and approaches
will resonate for different people
at different points in their life.
The key thing that I want to
emphasize here is that we don't
need to yuck another person's yum.
We'll resonate with what works for us.
And can we give ourselves permission
to follow the thread of interest and
the pulse of truth as it's arising.
Whether you work harder or
rest harder is up to you.
Only you can know what is
right for you in this moment.
Thank you for your practice.
I'll talk to you in the
meditation and take care.

Vidyamala’s tips on catching anger as it’s happening or about to happen are great - clear, practical, and doable.

The little talks before the meditations are priceless. It's like I've found my peeps. The topics, the quotes, the goals—it all makes so much sense to me, things I want to be thinking and learning about. Most importantly, the meditations are kindness-centered, which I love. It feels like a new way to approach meditation.

Better than Headspace. I've had the paid version of both apps, and I must say I enjoy this one better.
