2020 was a particularly difficult year. I was living in Lebanon at the time of the Beirut blast. Afterwards, I had to leave Lebanon for work and move to Iraq — leaving behind my mother, who was sick due to complications from her heart and kidney problems.
Stress, fear, worry about loved ones — I was in a very bad place inside, and I needed help.
A friend shared a post of Cory Muscara’s, and his words resonated with me. That’s how I got introduced to Mindfulness.com.
I like the serenity that Melli O’Brien displays. And lately, I have been following Vidmaya Burch for managing pain; she has such wisdom in her talks.
I like exploring the application and the people on the platform. It is non-invasive and quite comforting for me to listen every night before I sleep, when I am agitated at work, or simply when I am doing daily meditations.
I can always find help through mindfulness practices and micro-practices. I appreciate the fact that there’s no judgment, and the voices of the people on the platform are soothing and compassionate, genuine and understanding.
I would like to further explore the other teachings, and I am interested in introducing mindfulness practices to my nephews, who are 9 and 13. This is my next priority.
Now, I know that no matter what I’m going through, I can talk to myself like I would talk to someone I love. I can be my best friend!
