We’d love to introduce you to Melanie. Melanie wrote to us from the Midwest United States. She’d had some prior exposure to mindfulness, but was also looking for a companion to help her start and deepen her own regular practice.
Along the way, she also became a secondary caregiver to her ailing father, and she found that her regular practice had been an important part of building resilience and helped her be present with her parents during that time.

I participated in an MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) course and needed something to assist me daily with my practice. This app has been a great way to do so.
I've become more present in life, and as an adult who was a secondary caretaker, helping my mom out with my father, who recently died of cancer, a regular practice has also helped me be a more resilient, patient, and present support.
I can say finally at 50+ years of age that I am more comfortable in my own skin. Being able to stay present helps me better set my course for the day, the week, and the month ahead.
As a caregiver, being present with my parents and not focusing on the future had been a big help. All I had was that time, and all I could control was my response to that moment.
I also appreciate the clarity that a regular practice brings. I'm still working through what I want to be when I grow up, and mindfulness has helped me start to shape my dreams into reality.
Stay with it. Don't "should" yourself about having to practice daily. Just do it when you are able. Soon you’ll start to feel the difference, and it will become a regular habit.
