Let's take a moment to appreciate the things that have been happening in your life recently. Today's theme is appreciating places of refuge. As always, if you would like to journal along, you can pause after each prompt to give yourself more time to write and reflect. First, let's take a deep breath in. And out.
Sometimes it can be difficult to experience a sense of true safety and calm in our days. Our weeks can be full of challenges and obstacles. We read headlines and feel uncertain. We come home tired and are often faced with more tasks and demands on our time and attention. That's why finding a place of refuge can be such a balm.
These are places where we can fully relax, where we feel calm and held, where we can be ourselves in an unguarded way. Think of a place that has felt like a true refuge to you. It could be in your home, in a favorite park, or in a place you like to visit. Where is this refuge? Take a moment to name and appreciate the details. What about this place makes you feel safe and relaxed? When do you go to this place? Are there other people there, a favorite pet, or do you prefer to be alone? When you leave this refuge, how do you feel in your mind and body? Now with this in mind, repeat the following phrases: Thank you for this place I can go to be myself, to let go of the worries of the day and renew my sense of peace.
Thank you for the safety I feel in this place. Thank you for the beauty I notice and feel in these moments. Thank you for the reminder that it's good to take time for restoration. To end this session, let's take a deep breath in. And out.
We'll see you back here tomorrow for another gratitude practice.
