In this first session, Vidyamala, who has lived with pain for decades, shares the central insight of learning to take difficulty one moment at a time, as a life-changing doorway to greater ease.
In this session, learn how to divide experience into Primary Pain and Secondary Suffering, and how to let go of suffering caused by resistance whilst enlisting breathing and gravity to help on the journey.
In this session, learn the crucial mindfulness skill of how to look ‘at’ your thoughts and emotions rather than ‘from’, providing you with much greater perspective.
Cultivate balance in this session by learning how to widen your ‘window of tolerance’ between the extremes of denial and overwhelm, while also learning how to bring compassion towards your experience.
In this session, learn to enrich your experience enormously by widening your field of awareness so that you can learn to appreciate the beauty and pleasure that sits alongside pain or illness.
In this session we learn how to imaginatively connect with the shared human experience and move from isolation to empathy.
In this final session, we explore how true strength comes from learning how to be soft and pliable around difficulty - yielding awareness into the constant flow of sensations.
Vidyamala is a mindfulness & compassion teacher, coach, award-winning author, and co-founder of Breathworks.
She started meditating in 1985, after a series of spinal injuries in her late teens left her with chronic pain and partial paraplegia.
She found such transformative healing in mindfulness that she devoted herself to study and practice. Eventually, she developed a Mindfulness-based Pain & Illness Management programme which has been recognized by The British Pain Society.
To date, her evidence-based Mindfulness-based Pain & Illness Management (MBPM) approach has reached over 100k people around the world and is recognized by health boards globally.
Vidyamala hopes to pass on the tools that have helped her to reclaim a full and meaningful life.
No matter what stress, illness, or life circumstance you are encountering, mindfulness will train your mind to work with you, rather than against you.
