4 Tips for Presence

Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, I want to talk about four things to consider when meeting the present moment. So this is an acronym that can help us specifically meet a more difficult moment. And the acronym is SATA, S-A-T-A, stands for surrender, allow, trust and accept. What I like about this acronym is it, is it creates a very spacious internal container in relationship to what is moving through us.

Sense of surrender. It's an openness. Whew. This is what's here now. Allowing also has this permission for experience to move through us as it is.

Trust, making space for this is going to be good for us over time. In the sense of the opposite of it being suppression, pushing away. All of that is going to create internal blocks. And then acceptance this acknowledgement of this moment it's like this. Surrender, allow, trust, accept.

I think it's important to take this perspective more in relationship to your internal experience of how you're processing what is arising. I think suggestions like this, get a little more complicated when it's related to an external experience. Like you see something going on around you that doesn't feel just, and then we go, okay, well, I'm supposed to just surrender, allow trust and accept. No, that's not what this is pointing to. This is more pointing to how you're holding your internal experience.

And if anything, what that does is it validates the internal experience. And then the next response might be something in relationship to what's happening that says like, I'm going to do something about this. So this isn't passivity. This is more how you can meet a moment internally as it's arising to you in a way that is spacious, grounding, and integrating, rather than pushing away, fighting, resisting, or getting caught up in some sort of contraction, which just ends up creating more tension. So I'll give it to you again.

SATA, surrender, allow, trust, accept. A little practice. See if it fits into your mindfulness practice and serves you in a positive way. Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.
