Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. Today, we're going to explore a way to find the gold and the goodness in any given moment, even painful or difficult ones. Think about these scenarios. Immediately after we recover from an illness, we often feel a renewed sense of gratitude for how good it feels just to be healthy. When we have a painful toothache and it gets fixed, we really enjoy our non-toothache, you know, being pain-free.

And when we've been away from home for quite a while and we come back, we have this renewed appreciation for how cozy and safe and familiar it feels. And after a week of rainy cold weather, we appreciate the simplicity of a sunny day more than ever. But after a few hours or days, we tend to lose touch with how good things are, the those things that are right under our noses. We've all had times, right, where we've had pain, difficulty, adverse conditions, and the memory of those times can actually wake us up to the good stuff that we're not paying attention to right here and now. So let's start with where you are today and the good that's present.

You may have been in pain or illness in the past. We've all been there. But perhaps you're not in pain anymore. Right? So you can take a moment to appreciate how good it feels to be well, to be pain-free. You may have experienced times where you were lonely before, but right now you have connection with someone in your life.

So you can focus on the sweetness and the simple joy of having that in your life. Maybe you had times in your life where you had very little money or very little time, and maybe now it's different. Maybe you have a little bit more money or time. So you can really lean into the goodness of that. Right? You may have had a failure, a misfortune, a crisis before.

And right now there's the absence of one of those factors and you can allow yourself to rejoice in that. So today I invite you to take a little bit of time to contemplate some of your past hardships and allow them to shine light on what's good, what's working for you today, what's filling your cup. So let this contemplation color your outlook with gratitude. Focus on your non-toothache, your non-loneliness, your non stormy day, your non-depression, your non-hunger, your non-anxiety or grief. And let that connect you to the beauty, the goodness, and the abundance that was always all around you.

I wish you well with this practice. And as always thank you for your practice and let's settle in now for today's meditation.
