Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about asking for help. I'd like to start by sharing a passage by Morgan HarperNichols, who says, "You have been the strong one for so long. Now is the time to recognize you are allowed to ask for help, even for the things you feel like you should be able to handle yourself." We often take on so much ourselves. And there's often this association with there being some glory in it.

This tends to be the martyr effect. But what if we could be instead humbled by the bigness of life? To let the bigness of life expand us and soften us and allow the compassion and care of another person into your heart. On a very practical and evolutionary level, we have evolved for this. The reason we are here as a species is because we are great at collaboration and cooperation and caring for one another. But our ego minds tend to get involved.

We tend to want to do everything ourselves to take it all on, to not need help. This can be related to a number of different reasons, but it can cause us to burn out. And it can cause us to collapse in the wake of the bigness of life. So notice what your story is around asking for help. I don't deserve this.

I can do this. I don't need anyone. Those are just thoughts. It's just conditioning. Life is big.

We all need support. We haven't made it this far in this journey without support and maybe today or tomorrow, or sometime in the near future can be your opportunity to ask for help and to let that be a part of your human journey. Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.
