Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. Today we're going to talk about how awareness already exists here and now. And this is an important point to get, because what we're talking about here is probably one of the biggest challenges in practicing mindfulness. Whether we're at the beginning of practicing mindfulness, whether we're more experienced, and even if we've been practicing for decades. The reason this is tricky is because you see, we often have such a strong impulse to get to a particular result in meditation, right, to make something happen, to really strive, to get to a particular state of being or change or improve something.
But mindfulness is awareness, training and awareness is always already here. We're simply just becoming attentive to that fact instead of being so caught up in the mind. We don't need to do anything to make awareness happen. It's already here. We can't fix awareness.
We can't make it better. We can't change it. There's really nothing we can add to it. So there really is nothing we need to do with awareness. We simply notice it.
So what we are gradually learning in mindfulness training is actually how to let go of the mind's habit of doing, of trying to fix, solve, change plan, push, and strive so that we can actually release all of that and make room to experience what's already here, what's always been here. So in the practice, we just gently, patiently and persistently keep noticing whenever the mind leaves awareness, gets caught up in that doing mode again. And then we practice letting go into non-doing, into just being and into noticing that awareness already exists. It's right here and now. We can never lose it.
It's always with us. Awareness always already exists and mindfulness is coming home to that knowing. So we'll be exploring this a little more in today's meditation. So I invite you to settle in for that practice. And as always thank you for your practice and your presence here with us.

Vidyamala’s tips on catching anger as it’s happening or about to happen are great - clear, practical, and doable.
- Vicoir
The little talks before the meditations are priceless. It's like I've found my peeps. The topics, the quotes, the goals—it all makes so much sense to me, things I want to be thinking and learning about. Most importantly, the meditations are kindness-centered, which I love. It feels like a new way to approach meditation.
- Lauren
Incredible, easy to navigate app. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wishes to reduce stress and anxiety or simply as an aid to improve overall mental health.
- Kirtus
I love how the app gives me pointers to new things to explore.
- Lydia
So calm and soothing. I love the new bundle with Kelly Boys, she’s brilliant!
- EJ
Better than Headspace. I've had the paid version of both apps, and I must say I enjoy this one better.
