Hi, welcome back to

your Daily Mindfulness.

In today's session, we're going

to talk about breaking patterns.

I'll start with a statement.

If there is a pattern that you can't

break, there is some part of you that

is still finding safety, predictability,

and even pleasure in that pattern.

Trying to immediately change the

pattern without looking at the

underlying relationship to it

will often keep us stuck in loops.

Temporarily breaking it when we feel

highly motivated, but then falling back.

We often first need to clearly see why

we're holding on before we can let go.

So instead of trying to move away

from the pattern, practice moving

closer to it, get to know it, bring

curiosity there, listen to it as if

you were listening to a good friend.

Ask it, How are you trying to serve me?

What do you perceive would happened

if we stopped doing this pattern?

You may be curious what you hear.

And there's a good chance that some of

the fears are related to things that you

actually have the resources to navigate.

So you can then speak to the

pattern as your adult self, rather

than the more fearful child who is

concerned about not being in control.

Imagine that you were coaching a friend

trying to assure and inspire them.

How would you talk to

them in that scenario?

That's how you can practice

talking to the pattern.

Essentially you're shifting from,

you're shifting your identification

from the pattern itself to your

adult self, which is a much more

empowered place to lead your life from.
