Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. Today we're going to explore one of the essential foundations of mindfulness practice, and that is the attitude of gratitude. So gratitude involves a wholehearted embrace of the present moment. It sees fullness and wholeness instead of lack. It leans into and embraces what's already here and now, instead of constantly looking for more.
And we can have such a strong tendency to overlook what we already have in search of something different or something more. And we can also be very prone to complaining about our circumstances and ruminating about our problems and our difficulties, letting that be the focus. But gratitude is an antidote to negativity, striving and struggling. It allows us to open up to our moments in our lives with a sense of lightness and ease, even reverence. Even when things are challenging, from the perspective of gratitude, we can be grateful for our beating hearts out, breathing lungs, the clouds in the sky and, you know, the miracle that were alive at all.
So by slowing down and bringing gratitude into our meditation practice and into our lives, we begin to cultivate a really authentic love of life. So in today's meditation, we're going to be infusing our practice with this attitude of gratitude, but also maybe take a moment to contemplate now how can you bring this aspect of mindfulness this gratitude into your day to day and into the days ahead. Maybe really simple things like on your way to work, you could appreciate and enjoy the feeling of sun on your skin, or you could slow down and really savor the food you're eating, or maybe just appreciating the feeling of being safe when so many people around the world are not, or perhaps just experiencing joy and wonder at the simple fact that today, you are alive.
