Hi! Welcome to your daily mindfulness. My name is Cory Musscara, and I'll be guiding you through this seven day series. Each day, I'll share a short video into meditation related to cultivating resilience during challenging times. And on that note, uh, chances are, if you're listening to this, it means you're going through something difficult yourself. And I just want to say, I'm proud of you for at least taking the first step to trying to take a proactive role in your own life, in your own wellbeing.
We all go through difficult events at some point in our lives. It's just part of being human. But few of us are able to reach out for the proper resources to help us navigate it. And the fact that you're listening to that, to this, means that you're one of those people that, that knows how to reach out when it's necessary. So I'm happy to be on this journey with you over the next seven days.
And this first meditation is, is really just about making space for the experience. I don't know if this resonates, but at least for me, and for a lot of people that I work with, uh, when it comes to experiencing something difficult, the biggest pain that often comes from it is the secondary suffering that we add on top of the experience. So what do I mean by the secondary suffering? Well, uh, an experience, a difficult event is, is difficult in itself. It's inherently going to be painful. But have you ever noticed we can add another level of pain to it? The thoughts and the emotions that we kick on top of it.
Why me? How long am I going to be able to do this? How long is this going to last? Why did God do this to me? All the secondary pain that we kick on top of an already difficult event and that extra tension just makes it harder to get through, to navigate. So when it comes to, to being with uncertainty, confusion or difficult times, I think the first thing that we can do that's powerful for ourselves, is just to give ourselves permission to be human, to have the experience that we're having, to acknowledge that this is part of the human process. We didn't ask for it to happen. We don't have to like that it's happening. But it's here, and can we at least just take a deep breath into it? Soften some of that extra tension that we're caking on top of an already difficult experience and just make space for it.
Not pushing, not fighting, not resisting, just acknowledging, this is what the moment is like right now. And maybe you can already feel some of the ease that can come with that kind of relationship. We're going to talk more about this in today'meditation. But I just want to say again, well done. Thank you for showing up.
And I'm excited to be on the seven day journey with you. I do trust that there's a lot of valuable content in here for you, and I'm going to take your hand through the process. So thank you for your practice. I'll talk to you shortly and take care.

Vidyamala’s tips on catching anger as it’s happening or about to happen are great - clear, practical, and doable.
- Vicoir
The little talks before the meditations are priceless. It's like I've found my peeps. The topics, the quotes, the goals—it all makes so much sense to me, things I want to be thinking and learning about. Most importantly, the meditations are kindness-centered, which I love. It feels like a new way to approach meditation.
- Lauren
Incredible, easy to navigate app. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wishes to reduce stress and anxiety or simply as an aid to improve overall mental health.
- Kirtus
I love how the app gives me pointers to new things to explore.
- Lydia
So calm and soothing. I love the new bundle with Kelly Boys, she’s brilliant!
- EJ
Better than Headspace. I've had the paid version of both apps, and I must say I enjoy this one better.
