Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. Today, we're going to talk about unwinding the ways in which we sometimes limit ourselves. So sometimes we have moments of great inspiration or courage. We have a new idea, or we start thinking about a bold action. Maybe we start thinking about a great new project we could do or big possibility for our lives.
Now the ideas might not be fully formed yet. They might just be fleeting kind of feeling of enthusiasm as you kind of try these ideas on for size. But what happens next? Sometimes, I would say for a lot of us, we burst our own bubble way too fast instead of encouraging ourselves and cheering ourselves on a little bit. So thinking about this in your own life. Are you really quick to come in with mental counter-arguments to your big dreams? Does self doubt creep right in and start killing your buzz, telling you how you'll never be able to do that and all the reasons why it won't work? Do you put out your own fire with lists of objections and doubts? I'm wondering, you know, for all of us, what kind of life would be possible if we stopped, bursting our own bubbles so quickly and let our heart's deepest desires and dreams have a bit more breathing room.
Now, what would that be like? Would you be more passionate? More authentic? More alive? Would it unlock more of your potential? In my experience, those things are all very likely. So the next time you find yourself being pulled by a feeling of passion or inspiration or your heart's longing, try not to burst your bubble too quickly. Just allowing yourself to entertain the possibilities and new directions and listen to your heart. Now, of course, this absolutely doesn't mean that you have to follow everything through to completion. You don't have to play it all out.
Some ideas are just going to rise and pass. But the ones that endure may have the power to transform your life if they're allowed to see the light of day. Also, it's good to remind yourself that, you know, all the wonderful human achievements started out as crazy ideas and then they came to life when people followed their hearts and their dreams. Now there's a popular anonymous quote that sums this up nicely. "It's impossible, said pride.
It's risky, said experience. It's pointless, said reason. Give it a try, whispered the heart." So let's listen to those whispers of the heart as we go forward in our lives. And as always, thank you for your practice, for being here in this community. And let's settle in for today's meditation.
