Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about the hidden power of early morning moments. There's something important and precious about that transition from sleep into the rest of your day. It's a bit of a period of limbo where you haven't fully yet come online. And it's important because you're not yet caught up in the ideas and the stories and the scripts of your life.
We could say, that's your ego structure, the sense of yourself, what you're doing, what's important to you, what you're working on, what your job is. All of that slowly comes online as we transition into the morning. But as we're transitioning from sleep world, we're in this really precious, more vulnerable space, where we're connected to our essence beyond the thoughts and the ideas about who we are. And it's for that reason that those morning moments can be really powerful. Maybe you've had this experience where you wake up early and there's just this sense of some anxiety that you're experiencing.
It could be because you're considering the day or you're experiencing some anxiety for other reasons. But it could also be because there's something in your life that is out of alignment. And when we're in touch with ourselves in those moments where the story of our life hasn't fully yet come online, we're feeling into what is most true for us, the particular path of our life, what's most alive for us. And when we match that and contrast that with the reality of our life, the story that is soon to come online, and if, if there's a dissonance, there we'll often feel some form of anxiety. And so I've really learned to use those early morning moments as an indicator of is my life in alignment right now, or is it out of alignment? If I'm waking up with anxiety, if something in me feels disconnected from the rest of my day or what is soon to come, usually that's a sign that I might need to change some things, that some things have gotten out of alignment.
And I make that invitation to you as well. Instead of immediately going on your phone in the morning or transitioning to your day, take a few moments to just be still, to just rest in that more vulnerable space of, of simply being, but notice how you feel. And when you consider the rest of your day, is there a sense of anxiety that arises? Is there a sense of fear? Is there a sense of things being out of alignment? And if so, you can use that wisdom to inform how you're designing your life and maybe make some necessary changes. Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.

Vidyamala’s tips on catching anger as it’s happening or about to happen are great - clear, practical, and doable.
- Vicoir
The little talks before the meditations are priceless. It's like I've found my peeps. The topics, the quotes, the goals—it all makes so much sense to me, things I want to be thinking and learning about. Most importantly, the meditations are kindness-centered, which I love. It feels like a new way to approach meditation.
- Lauren
Incredible, easy to navigate app. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wishes to reduce stress and anxiety or simply as an aid to improve overall mental health.
- Kirtus
I love how the app gives me pointers to new things to explore.
- Lydia
So calm and soothing. I love the new bundle with Kelly Boys, she’s brilliant!
- EJ
Better than Headspace. I've had the paid version of both apps, and I must say I enjoy this one better.
