Hey, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, I'm going to share a four-part acronym called FACE, which represent the four pillars of presence, focus, allowing, curiosity and embodiment, which is the outline of my book, Stop Missing Your Life. So I'll walk you through each of these one by one, as I'm doing it, see if you can feel what it would be like to embody them in real time so that this is both an informational activity, but also a practice itself. So the first one is focus. This is referring to our capacity to stabilize and attune our attention to the present moment.
So often the mind is wandering in a million different directions. Part of developing presence is about collecting that in the here and now. So as you're listening, what is it like to attend to this moment a little more clearly, to be a little bit more attuned to what's happening in front of you? Me talking to you. What's happening in your body? In your mind? Focus is a superpower these days. So often we're not here and by training that capacity, we're laying the foundation for deeper presence.
So focus, F. The next one is allowing, A. This represents our ability to, to tune into what's coming up for us internally and not immediately turn away from it. A lot of times we try to connect to people or be present in spite of what's coming up. Instead, my invitation is to be present through what is arising.
So see if you can notice what's happening in your mind right now. What are you feeling? Are there any judgements? And instead of immediately clearing those away, what is it like to be present through those experiences, to invite them in the fullness of this moment, allowing. Essentially this is your permission to be human. The next is C, stands for curiosity. This I like to see as the glue to the present moment.
It's the thing that pulls us in a little bit more closely. So what's it like to bring some curiosity to your experience right now? Maybe to the words I'm sharing, the information I'm saying, or even just yourself, the space around you. Can you bring a gentle, wondering to this moment? Not in a way that needs to solve any problems, but it's just curious of what is it like to be me and to have this experience. And lastly we have E which stands for embodiment. And this is to ensure that we don't simply see presence as being up in our heads, but rather a full bodied experience.
Acknowledging that as long as we're going to be humans, it means we're going to have a body. And if we're disconnected from our body, it usually means, in some capacity, we're disconnected from our life. So as you sit here and bring focus, uh, allowing curiosity, can you also bring a quality of embodiment, feeling your body in this space in time? So these four elements create the pillars of presence, focus, allowing curiosity, and embodiment, conveniently creating again, the acronym FACE. So we could say what we're doing is facing our life. Try this out.
Bring it into your day to day, in your conversations, or while you're walking outside, or even during difficult moments and see how it helps you bring more presence into your life. As always, thank you for your practice. I'll talk to you soon and take care.

Vidyamala’s tips on catching anger as it’s happening or about to happen are great - clear, practical, and doable.
- Vicoir
The little talks before the meditations are priceless. It's like I've found my peeps. The topics, the quotes, the goals—it all makes so much sense to me, things I want to be thinking and learning about. Most importantly, the meditations are kindness-centered, which I love. It feels like a new way to approach meditation.
- Lauren
Incredible, easy to navigate app. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wishes to reduce stress and anxiety or simply as an aid to improve overall mental health.
- Kirtus
I love how the app gives me pointers to new things to explore.
- Lydia
So calm and soothing. I love the new bundle with Kelly Boys, she’s brilliant!
- EJ
Better than Headspace. I've had the paid version of both apps, and I must say I enjoy this one better.
