Hi, and welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about letting go. And I'd like to start by sharing a quote by one of the greatest philosophers of all time, Winnie the Pooh. Winnie, the Pooh said, "I always get to where I'm going by walking away from where I've been." I always get to where I'm going by walking away from where I've been. This quote, at least for me has a simultaneous ah, yes, I feel so true and then, uh, yeah, that feels so true.
There's both an excitement and a pain that comes with this recognition. And there are a lot of ways to navigate the letting go process. But I do think we can sometimes complicate it. And I think this simple poignant reminder that comes with this quote gives us the energy to move forward with the letting go process. It's the reminder that the only way to get to the next exciting chapter of our life is to walk away from where we are right now.
Of course, this doesn't mean we need to uproot everything in our life and that everything is going to change. It's just pointing to the simple fact, whatever it is you're trying to move toward in the future will have to look different than what you're experiencing right now or where you are right now. So if you're navigating a life change, it might be helpful to look back on your life to other times when there was a change for the positive and reflect on where you were then and how you had to walk away from that to get to where you were going. Sometimes that walking away happens intentionally and sometimes it happens unintentionally, but regardless it happens. Eventually there is a walking away from where you are to get to where you're going.
And if there's a new life you're trying to create it, it will require walking away from where you currently are. But we're here at Mindfulness.com to support you along the journey. So wishing you well, and thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.
