Today we're going to talk about
how life gives you what you want.
I'd like to read you a quote by
a woman named Tracy McMillan.
She writes that there's a saying,
you ask for patience and what
you get is a line at the bank.
In other words, life doesn't
give you what you asked for.
It gives you the people, places
and situations that will help
you develop what you asked for.
You asked for patience and what
you get is a line at the bank.
I know that one certainly
resonated with me.
It frustrated me and it also inspired me.
It made me feel like maybe there's
more support than I realized for
the things I'm most trying to
develop in myself and in my life.
This framework may not be a useful
way to think for all things in life.
But my encouragement to you is to look
at the things you're currently asking
for, the things you most want that maybe
you're praying for you're meditating on.
And instead of immediately dwelling
on the fact that these things haven't
happened yet, perhaps open your mind to
the potential that they may happen in
a way different from what you expect.
You might look around at the people,
the places and the situations that
you're currently in and ask, how
might these things be helping me
develop what it is I've asked for?
Regardless of whether life or the
universe is actually putting these
things in your life to give you what you
want, this is a powerful reframe of the
current experience you're going through.
And if you look closely, you
might start to see how they can
aid you in where you want to get.
