Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. Today I'm going to talk about how we can heal the mind. So our mind actually has a very natural tendency towards healing, wholeness and harmony, just in the same way that the body does. So our whole being is always looking to return to its homeostasis. So if you injure your body, It will heal itself as long as you give it the right conditions.
Once you give it the right conditions, it will just repair on its own without any extra effort on your part. In the same way our mind naturally wants to heal itself. But one of the really big challenges we have with this is that we often don't give the mind enough space and time to do so. So without training, for instance, you know, the mind tends to always be quite busy, always moving and it can get even frantic. And so this can often prevent us from giving the mind the space and the settling that it needs in order to just let healing take place.
So when we're practicing mindfulness, we're giving the mind that space, we're learning to kind of unhook from our thoughts and steady ourselves in a kindly, compassionate and accepting awareness. So by doing so, we unwind the tension in the mind and come home to a wholeness and contentment. It's kind of like bathing our whole being in the healing balm that it needs to regenerate. So as you engage in your meditation today and ongoing, just knowing and trusting that your practice is restorative. It can heal your heart, soothe, your mind and comfort, support and strengthen your whole being.
