Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session we're going to talk about holding a space. When it comes to how to best support someone going through something difficult there are a lot of different perspectives and many different permutations for how to respond based on different contexts. Sometimes the person is looking for someone to help them solve a problem and responding to that need can be a great offering. Offering a solution can be quite powerful for a person.
But other times, life can just be confusing and painful for someone and they don't need us to try to solve their problems or to make it better. Instead, the greatest gift we can give them is to be with them in that confusion and pain. Perhaps saying, I see you, I hear you and I'll stay here with you. You might not need to say those lines specifically, but instead hold the sentiment of those lines in your presence, especially the I'll stay here with you. In that intimacy, there is great love and perhaps at the root of it, that's what we're all looking for.
Thank you for your practice. As I've mentioned in the past, and it's worth reminding you now your practice is not just for you, but it's for your relationships, the people around you, your community and our world. So thank you. Let's settle in for today's meditation.
