Hi, welcome back to

your Daily Mindfulness.

In today's session, we're going to talk

about the voice of self-compassion.

We talk a lot about self-compassion

here at Mindfulness.com.

It's a really important part of a

meditation practice and a life well lived.

Life is really difficult at times,

so we have to experience a lot of

different thoughts, different emotions,

different sensations, uncertainties.

And if we're beating ourselves

up along that process, well, it's

going to be a very bumpy process.

So at some point we do have to

make the journey of becoming our

own best friend, which is why

self-compassion can be so important.

But if we were to personify

self-compassion, if self-compassion could

speak, I'm curious what it would say.

Well, here's one idea.

Self-compassion might say.

There's nothing you could

think, say, or do that makes

you more or less worthy of love.

Yes, you may make mistakes, get

confused and even cause harm at times.

You're human.

Let's meet this moment together

with clarity and honesty and

decide how to best respond.

I'm right here with you.

And the reason I think it would say

that and not something like you're

doing great, I love you, is because

self-compassion also involves an

honest relationship with ourselves.

It meets us with love.

It meets us with care.

But it also holds us to a high

standard that recognizes that

yeah, being human is complex.

But we have the resources to meet

the complexity of our humanness

and it sees the best in us.

So as you go about your day, see what

your voice of self-compassion would

be, and really try to develop it.

You might write this down in a journal

or just practice talking to yourself in

a way that meets you with love and care,

but also holds you to a high standard.

That's your self compassion.
