Inner Listening

Personalized support for learning how to integrate mindfulness into your life. Delivered fresh everyday by our world renowned experts. Choose meditation duration:

Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about inner listening. As you may have seen lately, I've been talking more about how to listen to your inner compass. So in this session, I want to share three steps that facilitate this in our listening. Step One, get grounded.

Grounded. In order to receive intuitive guidance, the mind body system needs to be grounded. Otherwise it's just too easy to be swept around in the noise of the mind. So feel your feet on the ground, relax into your stillness and let your nervous system find more calm. Step Two, acknowledge that you don't know.

If you want to access a deeper inner wisdom, we have to show up with humility. The ego structure loves to be in control and it loves to think it knows everything all the time. To drop beneath the noise of the ego mind, we have to recognize its limitations in guiding us to a deeper wisdom. Step Three, invite help. In this step, you're making the offering to receive.

You may say, "Universe, I'm open to receiving a deeper guidance of what to do here." or you might say that to God, or if you take a secular orientation, you may say, "I just invite help from the deepest place of wisdom within me." Here you're, you're making this invitation and by making the invitation, it steps you out of your existing methods of discernment, which often happen just in the mind. And it opens you to something new, something deeper. So three steps to deep listening. Get grounded, acknowledge that you don't know and invite help. Thank you for your practice.

Let's settle in for today's meditation.
