Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about inner safety. Safety is a bit of a buzz word these days. There are big, important initiatives exploring how to make communities safe for more people and also the role of safety in therapeutic and spiritual settings. I'm a big believer that feeling safe is the key thing that allows us to fully express ourselves.

But, what does safety really mean? And how is it actually developed? Well, it's true that a certain kind of safety, an important kind can be developed by changing the people and the conditions around you. Just think of maybe getting out of a toxic relationship, being around people who care about you, or even fleeing actual danger. This facilitates an important and a necessary form of safety that many of us are seeking. But a perspective I'd like to also invite you into is this. Your deepest safety comes, not from the conditions of your life, but your remembrance of who you are beyond the conditions of your life.

When you become comfortable in your own stillness, you'll discover a part of you that sings with instruction for how to be in relationship to this moment and what to do next. This will catch you, always. It is forever available. And it is your deepest safety because aligning with it is aligning with the truth of your heart, the depth of your being. And from a spiritual perspective, nothing can protect us more.
