Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about self-love. This is one of those topics that a lot of us have an intuitive sense that we might need more of, but tend to have a complex, complicated relationship toward achieving. A lot of times, our idea of getting more self-love means getting to someplace where we can actually love ourselves, becoming some version of ourselves that we deem worthy of love. But self-love that is predicated on reaching and maintaining a certain version of yourself is, in my opinion, an incomplete self-love.
The real work that we're doing here is to love yourself completely, even if you're not yet where you want to be. You let this well of love and acceptance and understanding for who you are in this moment and all the reasons you might be where you are and not yet where you want to be, you let that well of love propel you to your next stage of growth, but you don't let it be contingent upon your growth. That would be considered conditional self-love and it's one slip up away from falling into the pit of self hatred. Meaning if we're not able to maintain this version of ourselves that we deem worthy of self-love and something happens, something goes wrong, then we're easily going to fall back into berating ourselves, not liking ourselves, not feeling worthy. So as a reinforcement, and we talk about this in a lot of these videos, it's important to hold yourself to a high standard, to be excited about your growth, to see where you're at right now and who you want to grow into.
But simultaneously make sure you're developing this quality of, of self-acceptance, of self-love, of understanding and compassion towards yourself for where you're at right now. Because if you don't, you'll just get to some future moment, but still feel that inadequacy or you'll be on a very fragile foundation for the kind of self love that, that you think you, you want or have developed. But again, it won't have a sturdy foundation. The sturdy foundation is what we're developing here and we'll continue to explore how to develop it in today's meditation. So thank you for your practice.
And let's settle in forward today's meditation.

Vidyamala’s tips on catching anger as it’s happening or about to happen are great - clear, practical, and doable.
- Vicoir
The little talks before the meditations are priceless. It's like I've found my peeps. The topics, the quotes, the goals—it all makes so much sense to me, things I want to be thinking and learning about. Most importantly, the meditations are kindness-centered, which I love. It feels like a new way to approach meditation.
- Lauren
Incredible, easy to navigate app. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wishes to reduce stress and anxiety or simply as an aid to improve overall mental health.
- Kirtus
I love how the app gives me pointers to new things to explore.
- Lydia
So calm and soothing. I love the new bundle with Kelly Boys, she’s brilliant!
- EJ
Better than Headspace. I've had the paid version of both apps, and I must say I enjoy this one better.
