Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, I want to talk about following a deeper truth within you. So the other day, I made this post on Instagram where I said, be careful not to let the noise of your mind overpower the whispers of your heart. And what this is pointing to is the fact if we're not grounded, our entire life can be guided by media, family and cultural driven storylines. This often shows up as noise in our mind.
These reactive thoughts and emotions that push us into decisions that are only aligned with a superficial conditioning. When making decisions, it's important to notice all the ways your ego mind convinces you of what will provide freedom and contentment. If I'm with this person, if I get this job, if I make this amount of money. And all of that you can have, but there's no amount of luxury, security, amenities, good weather or praise that can really fill your heart. We can work toward it.
We can want to have these things and we can fill our life with things that, that we enjoy, but we have to be careful not to make it the organizing force for our pursuit of inner freedom, because that is a never ending treadmill. So my invitation is to continue to practice being still. Become attuned to the many voices swirling around inside you and sensitize yourself to the one that is coming from a place deeper than your ego mind. The one that when you hear it, it feels frighteningly true. And then notice all the ways you try to negotiate that away because you're scared of what you would have to release if you actually let it guide your life.
That's big work, but it's, it's the process and the practice of listening to the deepest truth within you and letting that serve as your inner compass. And we all have that capacity. Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.
