Making A Stand For What Matters

Personalized support for learning how to integrate mindfulness into your life. Delivered fresh everyday by our world renowned experts. Choose meditation duration:

Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. Question. Are the things that matter most, getting your time and attention, or are you too busy for them? Are you focusing time on what truly makes you happy, healthy and gives your life meaning? Or is that being squeezed out of your overly full to-do list? I n these days it's all too common to live like this where the most important things in life get overlooked or sidelined because we get lost in a haze of doing, and then we forget about the domain of being and the qualities that come with it, like wisdom, love, connection, and calm. And also when we forget the domain of being, we often lose touch with what really matters to us. You know, for instance, sometimes we work so hard that we have no time or energy for our loved ones at the end of the day.

We say we're too tired and we just want to zone out in front of the TV, or we get too busy to go on date night or enjoy a picnic with the family, or maybe we run out of time to exercise or eat healthy, or we get so lost in looking at our screens, instead of looking into the eyes with people we love. Now, we live in a busy demanding world. There's absolutely no doubt and most of us would probably describe ourselves as busy people. But if you're getting lost in the momentum of it all and not spending your time and energy where it counts, then you're surely shortchanging your life. In the spirit of living our lives more deliberately, I invite you today to contemplate three questions that will help you reclaim your attention and energy and make us stand for what matters most to you in your life.

So here's the first question. What matters most to you today? So just contemplating that. Is it connecting with the people you love? Is it doing something you're passionate about? What matters most? The second question. What would you like to let go of? Are you holding on to resentments, regrets or grudges that you really, just can no longer serving you. Or maybe there's unhealthy habits that you could leave behind.

And the third question is who do you choose to be today? In other words, how do you want to show up? Do you want to be kind, authentic, playful, honest? What values do you want to express? So this kind of inquiry into what really matters to you is a practice you can do regularly. And by acknowledging what really matters most to you in this way, you cultivate a core of inner strength, clarity, purpose, and calm. So you can meet each day with the very best of who you are.
