Hi, and welcome to Day Six of our Seven Day Meditation Challenge. So there's only one more day left in this challenge, and I'd like to congratulate you on making it this far. And I hope you can feel how much Cory and myself genuinely want to support you. And we created this app to give you the daily support you need to navigate these difficult times. And in fact, every day of the year, Cory and I offer a daily coaching video, just like this one, and a daily meditation to support your wellbeing and resilience.
So I hope you're also beginning to see that reducing stress and growing inner strength and inner peace doesn't have to take hours. It can be done in as little as 10 minutes a day. So today, I'd like to offer you a way to make more empowering meanings out of things. So what do I mean by making empowering meanings? Well, the human mind is a meaning making machine. As we go through our lives, the mind is always making stories and meanings out of what's happening.
And these inner narratives can empower us or they can disempower us. Let me give you a really simple example. Let's say you wake up one day and you look out the window and it's raining. Your mind could make the meaning, 'Ugh, what a dreadful day, this sucks.' Or your mind could make them meaning, 'Oh wow. Look at all of this abundance filling our water tanks, nourishing our food and cooling us in the heat of summer.' Now we'll these two different meanings make you feel and experience the world in different ways? You bet they will.
One is going to generate negative emotions and the other one's going to foster gratitude, happiness and resilience. So the mind is doing this kind of story-making all the time. It has stories about you about life, about relationships, about men, about women, about other people. It does this all the time and during hard times, like what we're going through now in the world, the stories we tell ourselves about what's happening really matter, because they can make us stronger and more resilient or they can leave us feeling defeated. So if the meanings that you've been making lately or the mind has been making lately are not helpful, the great news is we have the power to choose a different meaning.
We can choose more empowering meanings. So instead of thinking something like, 'I can't handle this,' or 'I hate this.' We might choose a new narrative that sounds something like, 'How can I learn and grow from this?' Or instead of a narrative about, 'Oh, what a disaster this is.' You can change your narrative to, Wow. What an incredible opportunity this is.' Okay. Now some of you might be thinking Melli with this is a bit of a stretch for me, but think about it. This is a time when we're getting disrupted from our routines and plans.
So it's a great time to reset, reprioritize, ask big questions, change the way we were living. If you find yourself thinking something like, 'Ugh, my relationship's a mess. It's dreadful.' You could potentially change your focus and change that into an inner narrative to how grateful you are to not be alone right now and how appreciative you are that even though it's hard, you've been sticking together through these difficult times. So in the days ahead, just remember that when you change the meaning you're making, you can change the way you feel and you can redefine the quality of your experience and the quality of your life. As always, thank you for your practice and your presence here with us. And now just inviting you to settle in for today's meditation.

Vidyamala’s tips on catching anger as it’s happening or about to happen are great - clear, practical, and doable.
- Vicoir
The little talks before the meditations are priceless. It's like I've found my peeps. The topics, the quotes, the goals—it all makes so much sense to me, things I want to be thinking and learning about. Most importantly, the meditations are kindness-centered, which I love. It feels like a new way to approach meditation.
- Lauren
Incredible, easy to navigate app. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wishes to reduce stress and anxiety or simply as an aid to improve overall mental health.
- Kirtus
I love how the app gives me pointers to new things to explore.
- Lydia
So calm and soothing. I love the new bundle with Kelly Boys, she’s brilliant!
- EJ
Better than Headspace. I've had the paid version of both apps, and I must say I enjoy this one better.
