Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. Today, I'm going to share a mindfulness micro practice called a mindful transition. So as we normally go throughout our day, it's really easy to get kind of caught up in autopilot mode, just going through the motions. So we maybe have done our meditation in the morning, but then the rest of the day, we end up in a, in a haze of doing, a haze of automaticity. So by learning how to sprinkle more short mindful moments throughout our day, we can infuse our life with more calm, clarity and presence.
So mindful transitions are actually one of my own personal favorite ways to bring more mindfulness into daily life. And it's also really, really simple and accessible. So the invitation here is to just take a short pause as you transition from one event or task to the next. So you just take a moment to be still and with your eyes open or closed, take at least one slow breath in and out. If you have the ability, it's even better if you can take five breaths, which takes less than 30 seconds.
So you can practice a mindful transition, for instance, when you say finished preparing food or tea and you're transitioning to eating or drinking it, or when you pull up in your car, and this is my personal favorite, you pull up in your car and just before you get out, you take a mindful transition. So any significant task at work, like an email or a call you've just made, you can do a mindful transition after that. Or after the shower. So today's invitation is really simple. Just see if you can practice some mindful transitions and see how it feels for you.
What effect it has on your body, on your mind and the quality of your day. I think that you'll find that this practice really has the power to permeate your life with more presence, intention, and purpose. So wishing you a great day of practice ahead. And as always, thank you for your practice and your presence here with us. And now let's settle in for today's meditation.
