Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about happiness and the role of the body within happiness. Now, when you think of a moment of happiness, let's say joy, gratitude, ecstasy is it just a thought in your head of, Oh, I'm so happy right now, or, Oh, I'm so grateful right now? Chances are no, it's usually a full body experience. We might feel some lightness in our face, an ease in our chest or a sense of being settled in our belly. Happiness, joy, all those positive emotions are things that, yeah, maybe exist a little bit in the mind or get activated in the mind, but their full body experiences.
We could even say that sensation is to happiness what flavor is to food. And yet in our culture, since we spend so much time up in our heads, in our thoughts, ideas, our beliefs, we often disconnect from our bodies and don't experience as much richness as we can in life because of that disconnection. So my encouragement to you today is to explore what is your relationship to your body. And in those moments of happiness, are you really feeling them as deeply as you could. If you need some assistance, developing that connection with your body, we have different meditations, like body scans you can do on the app, which we'll do in a short moment.
But also explore things like movement, yoga or stillness. Taking some time to really reconnect to your body. This will for sure deepen your experience of what I call embodied happiness. So thank you for your practice and let's settle in now for the meditation. Talk to you soon.
