Moving Toward a Life You Love

Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about moving toward a life that you love. Now, there are so many ways that we navigate the human experience to try to move toward safety, toward comfort, toward a decent amount of pleasure, positive emotion, and a life that we like. And many of us are good at setting that up for ourselves. We might find a partner.

We might find a place that we want to live. We might go to college or get a trade or find a job that fulfills most of our needs. And a lot of times when we're operating from maybe a place of trying to build a foundation for our life, we're focused primarily on putting these building blocks in place that help us get established and help us to feel secure. And that can be important. I don't want to dismiss that.

But sometimes it's operating more from fear than it is operating in alignment with what is most alive in me and what am I really being pulled toward. And then we kind of get stuck in a life that we like, but we don't love. And it's not terrible, but we can feel like, Hmm, something is off here. But there can be a fear of letting go of that life and doing something else because we don't know what's on the other side. And that brings us to the key point for this Daily Mindfulness, which is that not being willing to let go of a life that we like is often the reason we don't have a life that we love.

And as I said, this is a big journey that requires navigating a lot of internal experiences, including fear. What might I have to let go of if I were to take a risk or try something new or follow my "heart"? What would that look like? What's the fear that does arise when I contemplate that? And do I feel ready to walk that journey? You might not be, and that's okay. Each person has their own timeline with this. But if you are sensing that there's something more for you or there's something more alive, something more true, notice how your attachment to your current way of being might get in the way of you surrendering to something else. And I'll leave you with one tidbit that might give some motivation for taking that leap, which is that in my experience, the universe takes care of a surrendered heart.
