Moving Toward Acceptance

Personalized support for learning how to integrate mindfulness into your life. Delivered fresh everyday by our world renowned experts. Choose meditation duration:

Hi, welcome back to

your Daily Mindfulness.

In today's session, we're going to talk

about acceptance specifically, I'm going

to give you a three-part practice that

you can move toward greater acceptance.

So we can do this together.

If you feel inspired to do

so, you can close your eyes.

And I invite you to ask yourself,

What do I know to be true right

now that I don't want to accept?

What do I know to be true

that I don't want to accept?

As you bring this to mind, just notice

your body tensing around this resisting.

And just invite it to soften.

That's the second step, softening

the body into this reality.

And then say to yourself, I can't change

this moment, but I can meet it with grace.

I am held and supported by

something bigger than myself.

I am safe and I will get through this.

I can't change this reality,

but I can meet it with grace.

I am held by something bigger than myself.

In this moment I am safe

and I will get through this.

And just feel yourself relaxing

into the truth of what is here.

When you're ready, if your eyes

have been closed, you can open them.

Thanks for engaging in that.

That's a simple thing that

you can do throughout the day.

When you find yourself resisting

the truth of what is here.

Often, what you'll see is that the

body has a reaction in response to it.

There's the truth, and

then the body tensing.

So by inviting it to soften into

the experience, it helps the

mind soften into the experience.

And then there's just some, some gentle

self-talk reminding us that we're safe,

we can hold this, we can be with this.

Who we are is bigger than

this momentary experience.

So you can bring this into your day

in a way that feels meaningful to you.

We'll continue the exploration of,

uh, acceptance in our meditation.

So thanks for your practice

and let's settle in.
