Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness.
Today, I'm going to invite you into a
short practice to help you see things from
a higher and more expansive perspective.
So if you care to, we're going to
start today by gently closing the eyes.
And taking a deep breath in.
And letting it out.
And in your mind's eye, just beginning
to imagine what it would be like if you
could shift your awareness outside of
your body and observe yourself from above.
And now beginning to float up higher out
of your house,up higher into the sky,
and looking down on the landscape below
you, seeing all the places in which
your life unfolds - your house, your
workplace, the places you go regularly.
And then traveling even higher now until
you're out into space looking back down
on our little blue planet, this place
where life has blossomed in the cosmos.
And seeing it all from this
perspective of the stillness
and the timelessness of space.
And then slowly bringing your awareness
back down to earth towards your house.
Gently landing back inside of your body.
And noticing how it feels to land
back in this moment, bringing
that greater perspective with you.
And bringing that new perspective may
offer you some wisdom about your life.
So just notice what's
alive for you right now.
It's easy to have blinkers on
when we're going about our lives.
You know, we get caught in
our patterns, in our routines,
our ways of seeing and being.
So it's helpful to step back in order to
see our lives from a broader perspective.
So with this higher perspective
in mind, I invite you to
contemplate two questions today.
The first one is, what might you want to
let go of that's no longer serving you?
And maybe it's a grudge or a resentment.
Perhaps it's a habit like rushing all
the time or scrolling on your phone too
much or not being there enough with loved
ones, not spending enough time with them.
And the second question, what really
matters to you that you'd like
to move closer to in your life?
Maybe it's qualities, like being brave
or being loving or being generous.
Maybe it's the people, the
connections in your life.
Maybe it's habits, like being playful
and not taking life so seriously, of
just being more present in your life.
And now gently relax your attention.
Open the eyes, if you haven't already.
And having a sense of taking this
wisdom with you in your body and your
mind and your heart, this ability to
see things from a higher perspective.
