Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about being present for another person. In an age of distraction and fast pace, your full presence is a rare gift to offer another person. And a simple way to bring more presence into your relationships is through curiosity. Becoming curious about the person in front of you, what they're saying, how they're saying and what it might be like to be them.
Since your mind is more inclined to pay attention and sustain attention to that which it's interested in, you can even prompt your curiosity with a question before going into a conversation, a phone call, an interaction. Perhaps saying something like, what can I learn from this person? How can I best serve this person with my presence? What might this person be able to teach me? Or, how could I make this person feel like the most important person in the world? That one I really like in particular. The main point is we're all looking for connection and with so much distraction, that seems to be an experience we're getting less and less of. And so what would it be like for you to be that for another person? I know we also want to receive it, but sometimes first offering it lays the foundation for us to be able to receive it. So the next conversation you go into, now ask yourself, how could I really serve this person with my presence? How could I be curious about who this person is and their whole inner landscape? They're a human, just like you with thoughts, with emotions, with joys, with pains.
There's a lot there that we can tune into and, and can connect through. So hope this gives you something to think about in your next interaction. Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.
