Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about transformation. Specifically, I want to speak to the process of going through a transformation, when you feel like you're growing in some way, but it's quite painful. There's often a sense of restlessness, unease and uncertainty. And it's clear that you're in a transition of sorts.
We can think of this as the transition between a caterpillar and a butterfly. There's this in-between stage where you're no longer a caterpillar, but you're not quite yet a butterfly with wings. And you sort of just feel stuck in this place of limbo. But even though your form is not known to you yet and there's this feeling of hurry up. There's still great change and growth happening beneath the surface.
And a lot of these moments when we're in these transitions, the most we can do is just give that process space. You're transitioning from one belief system to another. It will feel difficult. Do I believe this or this? What do I believe anymore? Everything comes into question. What can I trust? This can be the nature of transitioning, of growing, of transforming.
Give it space. Just be present to what's arising. Remember you can't control what's arising. All you can do is be an observer to what is true right now. This is also true for when we're processing deep emotions that maybe were repressed for a long period of time.
We start becoming more present. Maybe we're engaging in a meditation practice. And things that were beneath the surface start to come to the surface. They can feel disorienting and may make us want to go back to the way things were before, even though there was something about that, that wasn't fully satisfying. Or maybe then we want to accelerate the process, but we know that that has its own on journey.
Give it space. My main invitation to you here. If you're experiencing something like this, and even in the future when you may experience something like this, is just to recognize that this is the process of growth. And while certain people may give you tips and tricks to try and get out of it or to think positive. And while some of these tips may be useful at times, often, what we most need is the space and the permission to feel what we're feeling and to surrender to this inner transformation.
At the very least, know that we support you in this process here at Mindfulness.com and we're thinking of you. Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.

Vidyamala’s tips on catching anger as it’s happening or about to happen are great - clear, practical, and doable.
- Vicoir
The little talks before the meditations are priceless. It's like I've found my peeps. The topics, the quotes, the goals—it all makes so much sense to me, things I want to be thinking and learning about. Most importantly, the meditations are kindness-centered, which I love. It feels like a new way to approach meditation.
- Lauren
Incredible, easy to navigate app. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wishes to reduce stress and anxiety or simply as an aid to improve overall mental health.
- Kirtus
I love how the app gives me pointers to new things to explore.
- Lydia
So calm and soothing. I love the new bundle with Kelly Boys, she’s brilliant!
- EJ
Better than Headspace. I've had the paid version of both apps, and I must say I enjoy this one better.
