Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. Today, I'm going to talk about the ripple effect. So some people think about meditation as being quite a self-indulgent thing. With so many problems in our own lives and in the lives of those around us and in the world, it can be easy to start feeling almost guilty to take some time out to look after our mind. But the reality is, is that the state of your mind affects everyone around you.
And a part of what mindfulness teaches us is in fact that the suffering of others is not truly separate from our own. Likewise, the happiness of others is not separate from our own. We are all affecting each other and impacting each other as we go about our lives. When we're having a bad day, for instance, and we're feeling really irate, moody, or angry, it has an impact on the people around us. Right? We might be snappy with our loved ones or our coworkers.
We might be impatient in traffic. Maybe speak unkindly or coldly to the barista who made your coffee the wrong way. All these small actions affect others in some small way. Maybe it affects their stress levels, their mood, and then that changing mood and stress may affect other people they interact with. So in this way, we can see that our actions do keep rippling out from us as we move through life.
Of course, this works both ways, right? When we can start the day by cultivating a calmer, wiser, more compassionate awareness, this way of being will inevitably make a positive impact on everyone we interact with that day. We're probably going to be less reactive, less stressed, more kind, more patient, and more accepting. And as more peace and presence flows through your actions and your words and into all of your relationships and interactions, you inevitably send out a ripple effect of awakened awareness that will continue to inspire those around you in a flow of goodwill and kindness. So with all of this in mind, let's start to settle in for today's practice together, knowing that we're not just doing this for ourselves, but it's also a part of our own small contribution to a more peaceful, happy and harmonious world. Thank you for your practice and your presence here with us.

Vidyamala’s tips on catching anger as it’s happening or about to happen are great - clear, practical, and doable.
- Vicoir
The little talks before the meditations are priceless. It's like I've found my peeps. The topics, the quotes, the goals—it all makes so much sense to me, things I want to be thinking and learning about. Most importantly, the meditations are kindness-centered, which I love. It feels like a new way to approach meditation.
- Lauren
Incredible, easy to navigate app. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wishes to reduce stress and anxiety or simply as an aid to improve overall mental health.
- Kirtus
I love how the app gives me pointers to new things to explore.
- Lydia
So calm and soothing. I love the new bundle with Kelly Boys, she’s brilliant!
- EJ
Better than Headspace. I've had the paid version of both apps, and I must say I enjoy this one better.
