The Security of Holding On

Personalized support for learning how to integrate mindfulness into your life. Delivered fresh everyday by our world renowned experts. Choose meditation duration:

Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about letting go. Much of our struggle with letting go is that while we might resist what we're holding onto, it still feels more secure and safe than letting go and experiencing uncertainty. In my experience, it can be important to be reminded of something, and here's what that is. It's okay to let go and not know what will come next.

It's okay to let go and not know what will come next. All you have to guide you in your life is what is arising in this moment and how you feel in relationship to it. Where that leads is not in your control and it's not your job to know. Your job is to be ruthlessly honest with yourself, listening for the most simple voice of truth and trusting that as your inner compass. What happens from there is really not your business.

That's up to the universe or God or whatever sort of metaphysical orientation you take. Stay committed to your process and detached from the outcome. Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.
