Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about the wisdom of stress. Now, sometimes in the meditation and mindfulness space, our approach to stress is one of alleviation. And that's one of the powerful things about mindfulness and meditation. It can really soften the stress response and allow us to live with greater peace, relaxation, and ease.
And I think that's a fair thing to say that most people want more of that. However, stress can also be an important indicator that something needs to shift. And if we quickly override stress and go to this thought pattern of, I shouldn't feel stressed because now I'm a meditator and I need to be calm. And we try to focus on our breath instead to center our attention, then we may be getting in the way of some deeper wisdom that is saying that something in our environment or in our life needs to change. I have this teacher who says we paint ourselves into a corner and then we do yoga to feel comfortable there.
And so notice how that one lands for you. I think a lot of us might make decisions in our life that sort of pigeonhole us in a particular lifestyle. And we have these cues along the way that suggest maybe this isn't the right path, but we ignore them. And then we find ourselves in a place where we sort of feels stuck. And then we do meditation to feel more comfortable there.
It could be more of an extreme example, but it is something that I see a lot of, and I've noticed it also for myself at times. It can be hard to follow what feels true and it can be hard to listen to the wisdom of stress. So if you're noticing that in your life, that there is some stress here, especially a recurring stress. It may not just simply be something that you need to manage with mindfulness, but instead it can be a form of wisdom that's moving through you that is suggesting something needs to change. Practice listening to that, see where it takes you.
Mindfulness practice is not just being with the experience that's here, but instead listening deeply to what's here and taking intentional action to align your life with the truth of what's arising. Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.

Vidyamala’s tips on catching anger as it’s happening or about to happen are great - clear, practical, and doable.
- Vicoir
The little talks before the meditations are priceless. It's like I've found my peeps. The topics, the quotes, the goals—it all makes so much sense to me, things I want to be thinking and learning about. Most importantly, the meditations are kindness-centered, which I love. It feels like a new way to approach meditation.
- Lauren
Incredible, easy to navigate app. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wishes to reduce stress and anxiety or simply as an aid to improve overall mental health.
- Kirtus
I love how the app gives me pointers to new things to explore.

So calm and soothing. I love the new bundle with Kelly Boys, she’s brilliant!
- EJ
Better than Headspace. I've had the paid version of both apps, and I must say I enjoy this one better.
