Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness.

Today, I'm going to explore the

value of trusting the practice

and the process of mindfulness.

So when we first come to the practice

of mindfulness, many of us of course

have a particular aim in mind.

We might want to reduce stress or

anxiety or heal parts of ourselves,

or perhaps overcome unhelpful habits,

or just find more inner peace.

And all of those benefits

are common in the course of

ongoing mindfulness practice.

But it's common as they are, you

know, there's really no predicting

exactly when and how the effects of our

practice will unfold for each one of us.

Now we tend to be a culture

that is used to a certain

amount of instant gratification.

And so it's easy to become frustrated

when we don't see a result quickly.

But just like eating each healthy

meal one time does not instantly

give us more muscles, glowing

skin or 10 times more energy.

Each mindfulness practice cannot fast

track inner peace and freedom of mind.

The results build over time.

So it's really important

to trust the process.

It will cultivate a more healthy

mind, just like you can trust that

going to the gym and eating healthy

will cultivate a more healthy body.

Although you may have times where you

feel like nothing is happening, like

your practice is really just not giving

you anything, not doing anything.

And you may even have times when

it's really hard, you kind of

feel like you're going backwards.

You can rest assured that many

have walked this path before you.

And although there will be ups and

downs, easy days and hard days,

gifts and setbacks, with every

single practice you cultivate a

deeper awareness and a stronger mind.

So the next time you feel frustrated

or uncertain about your practice

or you feel like it's taking too

much time, remember that every

single step is part of the path.

Every single practice is sowing seeds

of love, wisdom, and strength within you

that will in time blossom into all kinds

of benefits, both within you and without.

So trust the practice and the process.
