Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about unclogging your emotional pipes. So, so many of our emotions get stuck because we don't fully experience them. We don't give ourselves the opportunity to process and integrate whatever it is that we're feeling. Instead, we tend to only feel them partially or suppress or disconnect from ourselves entirely.

This is always going to be a long-term recipe for stress and numbness and disconnection from ourselves and other people. A big part of mindfulness meditation practice is reconnecting to the fullness of our human experience, which you'll get to continue to practice after this video. But my encouragement to you is to also explore in your life where you feel disconnected from your emotions, where maybe you don't let yourself feel fully what it is happening as it's happening. I understand that not all circumstances might allow you to do that. For instance, if there's something really painful that you're going through, you might have to compartmentalize while you're at work and revisit that later.

But the revisiting it later is what's key because if these things don't get revisited, it's not like they disappear. They just get put in our backpack of life. And over time, the backpack gets heavier and heavier and heavier, and eventually we feel completely weighed down. Giving ourselves the space, the time just to feel what's been lingering beneath the surface and go through that emotional experience, lets those emotions get released, processed, integrated, or let go. So see if you can give yourself some time and permission to do that.
