Personalized support for learning how to integrate mindfulness into your life. Delivered fresh everyday by our world renowned experts.
Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. Today I'm going to talk about welcoming everything and resisting nothing. So mindfulness constantly reminds us that everything we need to feel fulfilled and at peace is already here. All we need to do is pause for long enough to let ourselves feel this reality firsthand. But the idea that happiness and peace outside of ourselves and in the future is such a strong habit of the mind that we need to practice reminding ourselves over and over and over again, to come home to ourselves, to come home to the present moment so that we can return to what we already have.
One of the biggest tendencies in meditation is to think that if we could just get the mind into a particular state, if we could just get rid of an unpleasant emotion, if we could just get the mind to slow down more, or if we could get rid of particular thoughts, then we can finally be at peace and happy. But in actuality, this is just more thinking that we tend to get caught up in. So if we can learn to notice and acknowledge this deeply ingrained habit of the mind, this habit to always think that something else or some other thing is going to be better than where we are right now, if we can recognize that, we can let it go. And it's in this letting go of the thought of fulfillment and peace existing in another time and place that we let go of all of our resistance and find true freedom and peace of mind right where we stand. So as always, thank you for your practice and your presence here with us.
And now let's settle in for today's meditation.
