Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. Today we're going to talk about our common humanity. How we're all in this shared human experience together. So I think when we first start practicing mindfulness, it can feel like a really solitary thing that we're doing. You know, we take this time out on our own to meditate, to tune into our own inner world.
But then something very interesting starts to happen. The moment just to get our own mind, our own human experience, the more we begin to discover that the way that our mind operates is basically the same as how all minds operate. What's happening within our own experience, we begin to see, is not really that unique to us, but rather it's a shared human experience. And our own deepest nature is the same as everyone's deepest nature. And we all have fears.
We all have regrets, hopes and dreams. We all struggle sometimes. We've all felt hurt and loss. We've all got flaws as well as strengths, and we've all made mistakes. We all want to be free from pain and suffering, and we all wish to be happy and safe.
We all feel emotions and experience thoughts. We all have moments of great clarity and awareness and other moments where we're completely lost in our minds. All of these is part of our shared human experience and the more deeply we see and understand this, the more compassionate we become and the more connected we feel with the other people and the whole world around us, in fact. Now, although we often think we're really different from each other. You know, we may have different beliefs.
We have different opinions. We have different ways of life. But if meditation shows us one thing, for sure, it's that we're much more the same than we are different. We're more connected than separate. And we really are all in this together.
And the more we really see and understand that the more we start to feel a sense of true belonging, harmony and peace, not only within ourselves, but within the world around us too. So as always thank you for your practice and your presence here with us. And now let's settle in for today's meditation.
