Hi, and welcome to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session we're going to talk about the importance of moments of stillness. Making space in your day to be still is akin to pausing between sets at the gym. In the same way that your body needs rest between sets to show up with more energy and strength for your workout, your nervous system needs time to rest throughout your day in order to show up more fully for your life. Stopping, feeling and processing enables you to continue going, doing, and even accomplishing.
Or it just gives you space to reflect on why you're doing what you're doing and assess whether that's most in alignment with how you want to live in that moment, or more generally. A practice of stillness, such as an extended period of meditation like you're doing here or even 30 seconds here and there throughout the day of just being still ,sitting, going for a slow walk, uh, taking time to not do something, gives space for the internal agitation that we often accumulate to settle, in both your mind and in your body. And there's no shame in this non-doing as we're often convinced to perceive in our highly, you know, go-getter culture. In fact, this non-doing is the only way that we can continue doing all the, all the things that are most important to us and helping and serving all the people that we care about. So in addition to the time we'll take in a few moments to be still through meditation, see if you can periodically drop into moments of stillness throughout the day.
These are the rest periods between your reps of life. And so I hope that metaphor gives you, uh, a different way to think about moments of stillness throughout your day. Thanks so much for your practice. Then let's settle in for today's meditation.
