Hi, welcome back to your Daily Mindfulness. In today's session, we're going to talk about the feeling of being stuck. When feeling stuck, many of us try to think our way through it. Mapping things out, looking at the pros and cons, pulling out the Excel spreadsheet. But here's the thing with that.
We often can't think our way out of being stuck because it's the limitations of our current mental models that are causing us to feel stuck in the first place. Chances are, we've already tried to think our way through it. And by continuing in that direction, we're just wavering between different internal beliefs and perspectives. It could be this, it could be that. And we go back and forth.
The good news is stuckness can be a gift, but only if we let the pain of not knowing trouble us into a deeper surrender. The ego wants to be in control. It wants to know the answer. So this is an opportunity to show it that not everything can be solved with the mind and with control. Instead, invite yourself to release your predetermined plan, take a vulnerable breath ,place one hand on your heart, and then say to yourself, "I open myself to a deeper form of guidance." When you drop beneath the warring thoughts in your mind, you open to a more subtle truth in your heart.
Thank you for your practice. Let's settle in for today's meditation.
