Rose & Thorn

A simple kid & adult practice for becoming more whole.

The rose and thorn exercise is something you can do with your children or a practice you can do with yourself at the end of the day, as a way to attune to what is something that is good that happened today and what is something that is bad that happened today. That's where the rose, something good and the thorn, something bad comes in. And the power of this exercise is that it allows you to be grateful for and savor something that did go well, but it also allows you to make space for and process the emotions or the energy around something that didn't go as well. And when it comes to integrating mindfulness into our life, this is what we're cultivating, an internal container of awareness that can hold the full range of our human experience. It's how we move toward greater wholeness and integration.

So try this out, maybe with a friend, with your kids, or with yourself. What is one rose and one thorn? Thanks for your practice and take care.
