Sometimes New Year’s resolutions can get a bad rap, and we understand why.
They’re often motivated by discontent, this sense that we need to “fix” ourselves in order to be happy. It makes sense that they rarely work: anything that comes from a place of non-acceptance is really difficult to stick with, because there isn’t a positive purpose behind it.
Mindfulness offers a different approach to goal-setting: it’s rooted in appreciation for what already is, and it looks forward with intention.
When we turn our attention to that place of acceptance and gratitude, we can much more easily tune into our deep-down desires for the year to come.
