Mindfulness 101: A Beginner's Guide
In 2014, Matt Dickinson was one of Australia’s most successful technology entrepreneurs. Melli O’Brien was a leading mindfulness teacher.
They’d both experienced the power of mindfulness practices to help overcome challenges and enhance the quality of everyday life — and they wanted to team up and find a way to empower people to realize their fullest potential through the transformative power of mindfulness.
So these lifelong friends began working together in 2015 by creating the world's largest Mindfulness conference. The Mindfulness Summit brought together 40 of the world’s most respected mindfulness teachers and built a community of over 300,000 people from around the globe.
They knew they were on to something great, so in 2020 they officially launched Mindfulness.com. Their vision was to combine the annual Summit with an easy-access app and website that would provide 24/7 mindfulness resources from the world’s most respected mindfulness leaders, teachers, writers, and researchers.
They wanted to create a community and a toolkit for transformation: a global hub for the mindfulness movement.
Today, Mindfulness.com serves over 1 million+ customers globally. The app offers more than 1,800 practices (with more added each month). And through the generosity of community members who choose Mindfulness Plus subscriptions, the company has been able to provide thousands of memberships to those who could not afford to pay and donate over $500,000 USD to mindfulness charities.
Supporting each other is core to who we are. Whether its helping people meditate daily or donating to a range of mental health charities.
