This breathing exercise helps children become mindfully connected to their breath, and understand how it can support feelings of relaxation and peace.
Hi, everyone. For today's mindfulness practice, we're going to be doing some big belly breaths together. To start, can you choose your favorite toy or stuffed animal friend to lay on top of your tummy when you're laying down? Great. Now, let's lay down on our backs and get really comfy where we are. Okay.
Are you laying down? Great. Now, can you place your friend on top of your tummy and let them gently fall asleep on your tummy? Let's do some big breaths together now. And watch your friend sleeping gently on your tummy. Take a big breath in and can you see your friend go up? Now, let's slowly breathe out. And can you see your friend go down? Can you take your biggest breath now and see how your tummy gets bigger and bigger, and your friend go up and up? Now, slowly let go of your breath and see how your friend goes down with your tummy.
Let's do five more big breaths together as we watch our friend move up and down, I'll count with you. Five. Big breath in. And slow breath out. Four.
Big breath in. And slow breath out. Three. Big breath in. And slow breath out.
Two. Big breath in. And slow breath out. One. Big breath in.
And slow breath out. That was some wonderful breathing. I hope that you felt relaxed and calm. Thank you for joining me today and I'll see you again next time.

Let's do five more big breaths together as we watch our friend move up and down, I'll count with you. Five. Big breath in. And slow breath out. Four.
Big breath in. And slow breath out. Three. Big breath in. And slow breath out.
Two. Big breath in. And slow breath out. One. Big breath in.
