Trade Jealousy for Joy

A meditation to help you to let go of jealousy, as well as find and cultivate genuine feelings of happiness and abundance for others and yourself.

So now settling into a comfortable position for this meditation. And if it's comfortable for you, just allowing the eyes to gently close. And as a way of grounding yourself in the here and the now, taking a deep, slow, full breath in. And a steady breath out. And inviting you to bring to mind someone that fits into the category of a friend or a loved one.

It can be someone from the past or present. Perhaps a child or a pet. Someone who it's easy to appreciate or care for. Allowing yourself to hold this person in your awareness and perhaps seeing them in your mind's eye or having a sense of them in your heart. And can you feel a sense of goodwill towards them, an actual desire for them to be happy? And see if you can picture in your mind's eye, this person experiencing happiness.

Maybe you know of a time recently in which they experienced some joy or good fortune. If not, just picturing this person, smiling with contentment. So with the intention now of caring and taking joy in the other person's happiness and really showing up for it, we'll now begin to repeat mentally some phrases of sympathetic joy. So just inviting you to repeat the following phrases mentally after me, and I'll leave a space for you to do so. Holding this person in mind and mentally repeating: May you be happy.

I am deeply happy for you and your good fortune. And may your happiness continue to grow. May your happiness last. And may your happiness radiate. And now just taking a moment to rest here with this feeling of open, unconditional love and goodwill for a few moments.

And letting yourself bask in the energy of sympathetic joy. And as this practice now comes towards the end, just notice how your mind and your body are feeling after taking this time to generate these feelings of joy, happiness, and goodwill. And then breathing in. And as you breathe out, beginning to move their fingers and the toes. And when you're ready, if you care to, you can open the eyes.

And perhaps making an intention to take these feelings of sympathetic joy with you into the day ahead. Wishing you a great day. And thank you for your practice. Take care.
