What Do You Want?

A meditation to help you get clarity of purpose and to assist you in living a more intentional and meaningful life.

So to begin with, just settling into as comfortable a position as possible. And lightly closing your eyes. And drawing your awareness into the physical body. And just following the breath as you take a deep breath in. And then let it go.

Another breath like that. Breathing in, filling the lungs with air on the inhale. And breathing out. And as you breathe out, just seeing if you can relax any tension in the body. That's it.

One more breath like that. Breathing in. And breathing out, as you allow that wave of relaxation to settle through the body. And then just relax any control of the breath. Just let the body breathe now in its own natural rhythm.

And inviting you to focus now on some time here for contemplation. Specifically, we're going to contemplate a particular question. And the purpose of taking time out for this kind of contemplation is to allow some space for you to get clarity of mind on what really matters to you so you can lead a more intentional and meaningful life. And the question that I invite you to contemplate is simply this. What do you truly want? So just asking yourself this question mentally here, and then just leaving a space to see what answers arise.

And then letting this question drop even deeper within the mind like a pebble dropping deeper into a still, clear lake. Just dropping the question, what is it that you truly want deep in your heart? What is it that truly matters to you? Asking yourself those questions. Allowing any answers to arise. Just continuing for a few more moments. Just contemplating, what do I really want? What matters most to me? Once we get clearer on what it is that we really want, what really matters, then we can begin to take action to move towards those things.

This kind of clarity of purpose and values is really a beautiful practice of mindful living as it keeps orienting us back to what truly matters, what's truly authentic for us. So as you go about your day today, see if you can hold this clarity of purpose close to your heart. Let it guide your thoughts, speech and actions as best you can. And as this practice now comes towards the end, taking a deep, slow breath in. And as you breathe out, beginning to wriggle the fingers and toes.

And take a moment to notice how you feel after making this time for meditation. And when you're ready, opening the eyes. And wishing you a wonderful day.
